" I revel in the creative act, the finished artwork simply a by product of the process, but one that reflects the inner world rather than the outer.

The Human Condition in its complexity fascinates me ,but Nature induces in me a sense of awe: teeming with life at all levels in exquisitely intricate systems and patterns, a master blueprint of life, creativity and survival, hidden in plain sight. My musings and my artwork constantly return to this vast theme; the vulnerability of life, the often stupidity of human beings and sometimes bravery, their fallibility ,bound tenuously by a thread of human affection and ubuntu-  portrayed through the mirror of the  biosphere and plant life.

As a rural South African, from the arid Karoo area much of my work is informed by this specific semi desert region, with its extremes of temperature and conditions. Bright earthy colours and blue skies, offset by dark rocks and sparse thorny vegetation. Aloes and Plakkies, Klapperbos and Melkbos.

I do not limit myself to one medium at a time, but work mainly in oils and acrylics on canvas or board.

Authentic unpretentious expression is what I work towards. Nature reflecting the nature of things in the microcosm revealed.
